The Embassy of China celebrated 50 years of Greek-Chinese friendship in a brilliant ceremony held in Athens, in the atrium of Zappeios Megaros, on Thursday, September 22, 2022.


In the context of this event, 37 persons were honored representing bodies from the areas of Local Government, Science, Sports, Culture, and entrepreneurship, who each contributed in their own way to the cooperation and friendly relations of the two countries over the 50 years that they passed.


Among the persons who received this honorary distinction was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, Professor Michalis Taroudakis. With this prize in the person of the President of the Museum, the Embassy of China wanted to honor the long-standing cooperation of the Museum with the Embassy of China and also with the cultural institutions of China. The highlight of this collaboration was the last "Traveling China" festival organized by the Museum in 2019 under the auspices of the Chinese Embassy with huge success and thousands of visitors.

The President of the Museum, Professor Michalis Taroudakis, received the honorary plaque of award from the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Xiao Juncheng and Deputy Prime Minister Panagiotis Pikrammeno. In his statements aired during the award, Mr. Taroudakis referred to Nikos Kazantzakis' special relationship with China and his admiration for the Culture of this vast country. Finally, in a special meeting he had with the Ambassador, he thanked him for the special honor he reserved on behalf of the Museum.
