The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum Partners with KTEL Heraklion–Lassithi for a new bus route to the village of Myrtia

The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum is pleased to announce a new partnership with KTEL Heraklion–Lassithi. As part of this collaboration, a dedicated bus route is being launched to improve visitor access to the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia, the ancestral village of the internationally acclaimed author.



Starting Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the new route will depart Heraklion at 13:00, heading towards Kastelli with a stop in Myrtia at 13:45. For the return journey, visitors will be able to board the bus from Myrtia at 15:30, with Heraklion as the final destination.

This route has been designed to offer a comfortable, reliable, and affordable transportation option for those wishing to explore the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum and the traditional village of Myrtia. This initiative is part of the museum’s broader outreach strategy, aimed at enhancing public access to Crete’s cultural heritage and strengthening the connection between the island’s rural areas and its visitors.

Transportation will be provided by the modern fleet of KTEL Heraklion–Lassithi, ensuring a high standard of comfort and safety for all passengers traveling to this site of profound spiritual and cultural significance.
