Farewell to Liana Staridα
A remarkable lady of our city has passed away.
The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum bids a heartfelt farewell to Liana Starida — a prominent figure in the literary and cultural life of Heraklion, a dedicated researcher, a wonderful partner and mother, and a truly exceptional friend.
Beloved archaeologist Liana Starida devoted her life selflessly to the city of Heraklion, serving for many years at the Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities.
She led excavations at dozens of archaeological sites, authored important works, and became a guardian of Heraklion’s historical memory.
In 2015, she honored the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum with her presence during the “Invisible City” festival, offering profound insight into hidden aspects of Captain Michalis’ Great Castle.
The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum extends its sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
May her soul rest in Light.
