On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November 2023 at the Thessaloniki History Center the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis (SIANK) and the Thessaloniki History Center on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Nikos Kazantzakis and 35 years since the establishment of S.I.A.N.K. successfully organized the International Scientific Conference: "Meetings and texts of Kazantzakis for non-Greek writers and artists".
Through 10 sessions and a total of 36 presentations (with a physical or digital presence), Kazantzakis' relationships with some of the most important non-Greek intellectuals of his contemporaries, as well as older ones, were highlighted, and his ties and connections with them were examined.
The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum was among the supporters of the conference. The museum participated in conference's works with the announcement "Reading traces in the youthful notes of Nikos Kazantzakis" by Paraskevi Vasiliadi, Curator of Collections and Deputy Director of the Museum. In this announcement, the importance of the author's notebooks from the period 1906-1912 was developed, the richness of their subject matter was highlighted and the intellectuals and works studied by Nikos Kazantzakis during this important period of shaping his philosophical and ideological thought were illuminated.
In addition, in the announcement by Mrs. Eva Kokkinidi: "Seven unknown adaptations of Shakespearean plays by Nikos Kazantzakis" seven anecdotal adaptations of Shakespearean plays by Nikos Kazantzakis that are being kept in the Nikos Kazantzakis Archive of the Kazantzakis Museum were presented for the first time.
